Stony Brook Falls To Northeastern, 65-56

BOSTON (AP) - Jose Juan Barea scored 25 points and had five assists to lead Northeastern to a 65-56 win over Stony Brook on Wednesday night.

Stony Brook (7-11, 2-7 America East) took a 37-36 lead on two Cori Spencer free throws early in the second half. But Northeastern (11-7, 7-2) responded with an 11-point run and held off the Seawolves the rest of the way. The Huskies have won five of their last six games.

Northeastern was outrebounded, 41-35, but used an opportunistic defense in the second half to run away with the game. The Huskies had six steals and forced nine Stony Brook turnovers, including seven in the second half. They scored 14 points off Stony Brook turnovers - 12 in the second half.

Cori Spencer scored 15 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead Stony Brook, and Antwan Hardy and Mike Popoko each added 11.
