Final Stats
Prince Prempeh scored on a 20-yard touchdown strike with just :07 seconds left in the game to propel Marist College past Stony Brook, 30-28, in non-conference football action. The loss drops the Seawolves to 6-5 on the season, while Marist improved to 7-4. The game marks head coach Sam Kornhauser's final game at the helm, as he is retiring after 22 years on the Stony Brook sideline.
The Seawolves almost managed to complete another game of last-second drama in their favor. Josh Dudash led a 16 play, 85 yard drive that spanned 6:36, which resulted in a 13 yard Josh Anderson touchdown catch with just :57 seconds left in the game. However, the Red Foxes marched 73 yards in 44 seconds, capped off by Prempeh's touchdown to claim the victory.
The first half was a wild one, in which Stony Brook only managed nine offensive plays, 3:13 of possession, but tallying 21 points. Anderson struck first when Dudash hit him on a 32 yard play action bomb, that put the Seawolves up 7-0. The Red Foxes responded with a five yard touchdown from Obozu Ehikioya, his first of two scores on the afternoon. Ehikioya scored again, this time from one yard out to give the home squad a 14-7 advantage.
The Seawolves responded with two quick scores. After Assad Hafiz scamperd 65 yards on a draw play to the one yard line, Sturomski plunged in for the score. After the Red Foxes were forced to punt on their next drive, redshirt freshman Joey George blocked the punt and returned the ball to the one yard line, where Sturomski once again found the back of the endzone.
The Red Foxes responded with a 22 yard scoring strike from James Luft to Guy Smith with just two seconds left in the half to make the score 21 all heading into the locker room.
The only scoring of the third quarter took place when Bradley Rowe poked a 27 yard field goal through the uprights. Matt Weeks had an opportunity of his own in the third, but his kick hit the uprights.
Luft led Marist, going 20-32 for 252 yards and two scores. Ehikioya rushed the ball 26 times for 105 yards and two scores.
Dudash finished the game 14-20 for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Hafiz rushed for 84 yards off just five carries, while Sturomski had two touchdowns of one yard each. Anderson led the recieving core with seven catches for 80 yards and two scores. Ray Goodsir and Chris Merkle both had 13 tackles on the afternoon, while Dan Michitsch chipped in with 12.
