Laura Sario's layup with 3.5 seconds left in regulation broke a 66-all tie to lift Binghamton to a 68-66 win over Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon at the Events Center. The loss snaps the Seawolves four game winning streak as they fall to 8-15 overall and 6-8 in America East play, while the Bearcats improve to 8-15 and 7-7.
With the game tied at 66 with time winding down, Stony Brook had a chance to take the lead, but Mykeema Ford's jumper with 10 seconds on the clock was off the mark. Nicole Lobach came down with the rebound and passed it to Sario, who took the ball the length of the court and made the easy layup to give Binghamton the 68-66 lead. SB had one last shot, but Ford's three point attempt came up short.
Jessie Boylan led the Seawolves with a team-high 19 points fueled by a 5-for-9 performance from three point range. Ford finished with 13 points, but struggled with her shot, finishing 4-for-22 in the contest. Morgan Partrick provided a huge spark off the bench, posting career-highs of eight points and four rebounds in 15 minutes of action.
Rachel Laws posted game-highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bearcats.
The Seawolves are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to take on Albany at 7:00 p.m.
