The Stony Brook softball team earned a split on the third and final day of the University of San Diego Tournament on Sunday afternoon. The Seawolves fell to Longwood 3-1 in their first game of the day before topping James Madison 3-2 in eight innings to move to 4-12 on the season.
In the nightcap, Margaret Blair began the bottom of the eighth on second base, moved to third on a ground out by Hayley Durham and scored the game-winning run on a ground out by Suzanne Turek.
The Seawolves picked up their first run of the game in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Marissa Servello and added another in the fifth on a two-out RBI single by Turek.
Jane Stein went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Kristen Brust went 3-for-4 in the win.
Angela Andrews allowed two runs on 12 hits while walking none to earn the victory.
In the opener, SB managed just one run in the fourth inning when Brust led off with a double and later scored on a single by Laura Bradford. Brust finished the game 3-for-3 with a run scored.
Andrews took the loss after allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three.
The Seawolves are back in action when they travel to take on Villanova and Brown next Sunday.
