The Seawolves fell to Boston College 17-10 Tuesday evening at Babson College in Babson Park, Mass. With their first loss of the season, the Seawolves fall to 3-1, while the Eagles improve to 4-1.
Amy Taylor struck first for SB, scoring on a free position awarded after a BC foul two minutes into the game. The Eagles answered with three straight goals, earning a 3-1 lead. Stephanie DeGennaro and Jill Gridley scored back-to-back Stony Brook goals to even the score at three. BC went on a seven goal run to end the half, sending the Seawolves into the break, down 10-3. Elizabeth Kadison and Lizette Blohm each scored three and assisted on a goal a piece to lead the BC offense in the first half.
The Eagles came out scoring five straight to open the second stanza, pulling ahead 15-3. Elizabeth Montreuil picked up a ground ball in front of the cage and fired it into the back of the net to earn the first SB tally of the half at 23:43. The Eagles scored two more before Katelin Billups found the back of the net on a pass from Kristen Dupuis with 8:29 to go. The Seawolves went on a 6-0 run to end the game, falling short 17-10.
Katie Savino and Danielle Werner scored two a piece, all in the final minutes to lead the Seawolves in the loss. Carlee Buck assisted on three goals, while goalkeepers Jen Sandtorv and Gina DeNezzo stopped three and two shots, respectively.
Kadison and Blohm each netted four and Eagle netminder Tara McKennett stopped five SB shots to earn the win in the net.
Stony Brook returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Colgate for a 4:00 p.m. game.
