Women's Lacrosse Falls to New Hampshire 15-12

Durham, N.H. - Carlee Buck finished with six points on two goals and four assists as the Seawolves fell short to New Hampshire 15-12 on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Field in New Hampshire. With the loss, Stony Brook falls to 7-5, 2-2, while UNH improves to 7-5, 2-2.

The Wildcats came out strong, scoring five straight until Buck slipped a quick shot past UNH netminder Ashley Milley to put SB on the board fifteen minutes into the game. The Wildcats answered five minutes later with a goal from Moira Talbot. Buck netted another at 9:04 but UNH answered again, making it 7-2. Jill Gridley netted two and Diana Caroleo chipped in a goal to end the half and head into the break down 7-5.

Caroleo kicked off second half scoring less than a minute in but UNH quickly scored four to gain the 11-6 lead. Kristen Dupuis assisted Gridley on her third goal of the day with 22 minutes to play but the Wildcats answered with three more to make it 14-7 with 19:59 to go. Amy Taylor won the draw control and took it to the cage to score her first of the game. UNH answered again to make the score 15-8. Buck fed Gridley for a Seawolves goal at 18:19. Taylor and Marrisa Trachtenberg netted back-to-back shots and pulled the Seawolves within four with 4:05 to go, prompting a Wildcat timeout.

Buck found Trachtenberg open in front of the cage to make the final tally of the game as the Seawolves fell short 15-12.

Gina DeNezzo stopped 13 UNH shots in the loss. Gridley finished with four goals for the Seawolves.

Stony Brook is back in action on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. game at home against LIU.
