Women's Cross Country Picked to Finish Second, Men Fourth in America East in 2005

Sept. 14, 2005

Boston, Mass. - The Stony Brook women's cross country team was selected to finish second, while the men's team was picked fourth in America East in 2005 after a vote of the league's head coaches, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

On the women's side, Boston University was picked to defend its America East title, returning a strong team led by 2004 individual champion Tori Botticelli.

Stony Brook returns its entire team from a year ago and is led by senior Leonora Joy, a three-time all-conference member and the runner-up in 2004.

On the men's side, New Hampshire was selected to win the conference title, while Maine was picked second and Albany third.

The Seawolves will be led by sophomore Shaun Krawitz, who crossed 15th at the 2004 America East Championships. Stony Brook, which will have to do without graduated all-conference member Dale Summerville, finished third as a team a year ago.
