Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Paris Carter netted a game-high 24 points and Kenny Adeleke added 20 points and 16 rebounds as Hartford outlasted Stony Brook 76-65 in America East men's basketball action on Thursday night at the Indoor Sports Complex. With the loss, the Seawolves drop to 4-22 on the year and 2-13 in league play, while the Hawks improve to 13-13 and 9-6.
A Paris Carter dunk with 8:35 remaining in the second half put the visitors up 58-45, but the Seawolves responded with a 6-1 run to cut the lead back to eight points after a layup by Mitchell Beauford with seven minutes to go.
That was as close as Stony Brook could get, however, as the Hawks pulled away, leading by as many as 14 points the rest of the way.
Beauford finished with a team-high 15 points, while Antwan Hardy and Mike Popoko each netted 12 and Solomon Bamiro added nine points and four rebounds.
The Hawks shot 52 percent (27-of-52) for the game, including 56 percent in the first half. Aaron Cook added 19 points, six rebounds and four assists in the win.
The Seawolves are back in action on Sunday when they host Maine at 1 p.m. The game will serve as Senior Day for Hendrik Feist and Bobby Santiago, who will both be honored in a pregame ceremony.
