Charlottesville, Va. -
Matt Ward scored four goals to lead No. 3 Virginia to a 17-4 win over Stony Brook in Charlottesville, Va. Saturday afternoon. The win improved Virginia to 3-0 while SB fell to 0-1.
"Virginia played extremely well and we made a bunch of early season mistakes," said head coach Lars Tiffany. "We will work on those mistakes in practice to get ready for Harvard next weekend."
The Cavaliers jumped out to a 3-0 led in the first 5:19 of the game with two of the goals coming off the stick of Ward. Stony Brook bounced back with a pair of goals to get back in the game.
