Stony Brook, N.Y. - Emily Hannigan scored three goals and Katie Monaghan made 13 saves, including 10 in the second half, as Boston College held off Stony Brook 11-8 on Saturday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The loss snapped the Seawolves four game winning streak as they fell to 4-2 on the season, while the Eagles improved to 3-3.

The Seawolves jumped out to a 3-2 lead 11 minutes into the game on goals by Carlee Buck, Kaitlin Leggio and Amy Hallion, but the Eagles used a four-goal spurt capped by Jenna McCabe's second goal of the half to take a 6-3 lead with just under two minutes remaining in the opening half. Buck struck again with a free position goal to pull SB within 6-4 at the break.

Jill Gridley's marker just under three minutes into the second cut the lead to 6-5, but BC once again strung together three goals, including a pair by Emily Hannigan, to push the lead back to 9-5 with 23:20 remaining in the game.

The two teams traded goals to make it 10-6 before Danielle Werner and Amy Taylor converted back-to-back free positions just 33 seconds apart to get Stony Brook back within two goals at 10-8 with 9:05 to play. That's as close as the Seawolves would get as Margot Spatola's goal with 8:28 pushed the lead back to 11-8 and put the game out of reach.

Leggio and Buck each posted two goals and an assist, while Amy Hallion added a goal and an assist. Jen Sandtorv (4-2) took the loss in net, stopping nine shots for the Seawolves.

Hannigan finished with three goals while McCable netted a pair and assisted on another for the Eagles.

The Seawolves are back in action on Saturday in their America East Conference opener at defending league champion Boston University at 1 p.m.
