THE SERIES WITH MINUTEMEN
• Today's game will mark the first time in school history that these two teams have faced each other on the gridiron.

LAST TME OUT
• No. 1 New Hampshire used a powerful rushing attack to post a 62-7 win over Stony Brook last Saturday afternoon at Cowell Stadium. The Wildcats rushed for 417 yards and six touchdowns to improve to 2-0 in 2006. The loss dropped Stony Brook to 0-3.

•The Seawolves got on the board late in the first quarter on its longest scoring drive of the season. Stony Brook marched 79 yards on seven plays highlighted by Josh Dudash's pass to Mike Cosentino that Cosentino turned into a 47-yard gain down to the UNH 13. Two plays later, with freshman Anthony Hamilton under center, Hamilton scampered 10 yards to the corner of the end zone for his first collegiate touchdown. Dudash went 10-for-17 for 112 yards while Steve Austin led the Seawolves on the ground with 67 yards on 10 carries.

ABOUT THE MINUTEMEN
• UMass enters the game with a 2-1 record and the No. 9 ranking in the country. Sophomore quarterback Liam Coen was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday. He completed 21 of his 28 pass attempts for 350 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday as Massachusetts downed Villanova, 31-21. UMass has wins against Colgate and Villanova in 2006 and its lone loss came in a one-point loss, 21-20, to I-A Navy in the second week of the season. Steve Baylark leads the rushing attack with 272 yards and two touchdowns and Brandon London has made eight catches and two touchdowns. Jason Hatchell has made 26 tackles on the defensive side of the ball for the Minutemen.

SAME FACES, NEW PLACES
• The Minutemen and Seawolves have never met in football. But there are several connections between the schools. UMass offensive coordinator Kevin Morris served in the same role at Stony Brook in 1999, the school's first in Division I-AA after moving up from Division III. UMass assistant athletic directors Garrett Waller and Jason Yellin are both graduates of the Long Island school.

FINDING THE END ZONE
It didn't take long for freshman Anthony Hamilton to make good use of his first ever collegiate snap. Hamilton scampered in from 10 yards out when he kept the option with under a minute left in the first quarter against New Hampshire to score his first collegiate touchdown.

FRESHMAN IMPACT
Freshman Tyler Santucci made nine stops against UNH to lead the defensive charge for the Seawolves. Also making an impact were Andre Jean-Pierre with eight tackles, seven of which were solo and Dan Michitsch's eight tackles.

PLENTY OF OPTIONS
Coach Chuck Priore sent out four different quarterbacks to direct the offense against New Hampshire. Starter Andrew Garrett struggled going 3-12 for 21 yards. Josh Dudash replaced Garrett and finished 10-17 for 112 yards, Dan Sweeny went 2-2 for 11 yards in the game, while Anthony Hamilton recorded one rushing touchdown in his lone play. Dudash orchestrated Stony Brook's longest offensive drive of the year spanning 79 yards on eight plays that took 3:17. The drive was highlighted by Dudash's 47 yard completion to Mike Cosentino.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN...
After opening up the season against Hofstra at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium, the Seawolves are in the midst of a four-game road swing. The trip includes game against Georgetown, UNH, UMass, and Monmouth before Stony Brook plays host to Albany during Homecoming on Oct. 7.
