March 9, 2007

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Former member of the 2005 America East Championship men's soccer team Rob Fucci has signed to play professional soccer with the United Soccer League expansion franchise Crystal Palace F.C. USA located in Baltimore, MD.

"I am looking forward to this terrific opportunity to play with some of the best players from around the country," said Fucci. "I will use the experiences I had at Stony Brook to succeed on the professional level."

The Crystal Palace FC USA is owned by the Crystal Palace FC of the English Premier League. While at Stony Brook, Fucci was instrumental in leading the men's soccer team to their most successful season in program history. In the 2005 season, Stony Brook advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament following their America East Championship victory over Binghamton in penalty kicks. The Seawolves magical run ended with a loss to UConn in the second round of the NCAA Tournament after topping Yale in the first round. A formidable leader on defense, Fucci led the squad to a 13-5-4 record in 2005.
