Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Stony Brook's Gary Novakowski has been chosen to participate in the upcoming 2007 New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game held on Sunday, July 22 at Joe Wolfe Field in North Adams, Mass. The Seawolves senior hurler was tabbed the starter for the South Division after having a very successful summer for the Torrington Twisters.
The Prospect, Conn., native and America East Pitcher of the Year has been outstanding for the Twisters this season as he has a 3-2 record and a microscopic 1.65 earned run average. In 43.2 innings of work, Novakowski has allowed just eight earned runs while striking out 38 batters.
The New England Collegiate Baseball League is one of the most talented and competitive leagues in the country. The NECBL has become a strong twelve team league that plays in all six New England states and recruits players attending U.S colleges from New England, the other forty-four States and foreign countries. The League starts its summer season in early June and plays an eight-week 42 game per team schedule. Each year, top players are scouted and selected in the MLB Draft.
