Women's Basketball Defeated By Boston University, 89-40

Boston, Mass. - Boston University shot 47 percent in the first half and Stony Brook made just six shots as the Seawolves fell to the Terriers, 89-40 at Case Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. Stony Brook drops to 6-11, 1-3 in America East play. Boston University is now 9-7, 2-1.

Boston University jumped out to a 17-4 lead helped by six points from Amarachi Umez-Eronini and four from Jesyka Burks-Wiley. Conversely, the Seawolves made just two of their first nine shots. The Terriers took their biggest lead, 34-9 after eight consecutive points from Burks-Wiley. Three-pointers from Cheri Raffo and Corinne Jean stretched the lead to 29 and Kristen Folk's two free throws gave the Terriers a commanding 54-19 halftime lead. Burks-Wiley led all scorers with 12 first-half points.

The Terriers opened the second half on a 23-3 run over the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Freshman Ariel Brown (Lumberton, N.J.) had six second-half points for Stony Brook.

Brown and freshman Kirsten Jeter's six points were game-highs for the Seawolves.

Burks-Wiley, who led five scorers in double figures, had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Boston University to earn co-America East player of the game. Kinneary scored 11 points to go along with nine assists to be named co-conference player of the game

Stony Brook continues on the road with an America East contest at Binghamton University on January 26. Tip-off against the Bearcats is scheduled for 2 pm.
