Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Sophomore Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand) has been named Stony Brook's SimplexGrinnell Athlete of the Week after winning the men's individual title at the America East Cross Country Championships this past weekend. This is the second time in his career Hodge has received this honor.
Running side-by-side with teammate Alex Felce (Stroud, England) throughout most of the race, Hodge used a late burst to pull ahead and cross first at the conference championships. Hodge completed the 8K race in a time of 25:29.3. This is the second year in a row a Stony Brook runner has claimed the top-spot in the men's championships, with Felce taking first in 2007.
Hodge and the rest of the Seawolves cross country team will be competing for spots in the national championships when they compete at the NCAA Regional Championship on November 15th at Van Cortlandt Park.
