Stony Brook, N.Y. - Chantay Frazier scored 24 of her career-high 26 points in the second half and UMBC opened the second half with a 16-2 run as it defeated the Stony Brook women's basketball team 62-49 on "Think Pink" Night, at the Stony Brook Arena on Wednesday night. "I'm disappointed in our play in the second half," head coach Michele Cherry said. "Chantay Frazier had a nice game for them. We had some open looks in the second half but they didn't drop. Our defense needs to improve greatly."

Ferraro was the Seawolves offense in the first minutes of the game, contributing on all eight of Stony Brook's points. After finding freshman Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) for a layup on the first possession, Ferraro hit two free throws and two jumpers to help the Seawolves grab an 8-4 lead. UMBC made its answer with a 10-0 run as it took a four-point lead, 20-16. Freshman Jodie Plikus (Waterford, Conn.) added a much needed punch off the bench when she nailed a three to cut the lead to just one. Plikus helped Stony Brook regain the lead after connecting on a jumper in transition.

Frazier scored nine of the Retrievers' first 12 points of the second half as they took a 36-32 lead. Following Carlee Cassidy's layup in transition, Frazier had another basket UMBC took its biggest lead 40-32 with 12:57 left. Stony Brook scored the next six points to get within two but that's as close as it would get. Frazier answered the Stony Brook spurt with five straight points.

A three from freshmen Misha Horsey (Wyncote, Pa.) cut the deficit to four, but the duo of Cassidy and Frazier sealed the game for UMBC connecting on 15 of its final 17 points.

Ferraro's double double was the 25th of her career as she was named America East player of the game. Jeter had 15 points and has now scored in double figures in four of the last five games.

Frazier's 26 earned her America East player of the game honors. Cassidy chipped in with 18 points.
