Women's Lacrosse Falls To #14 New Hampshire, 17-10

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Michaela Hardy scored a game-high seven goals for #14 New Hampshire as it defeated the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team, 17-10 at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Stony Brook is 5-5, 0-3 in America East play while the Wildcats improve to 10-2, 3-0.

After New Hampshire scored the first goal of the game, the Seawolves followed with three straight to take a 3-1 lead. UNH answered the Seawolves' run with three of its own before junior Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y.) stopped the spurt with an unassisted goal with 14:20 left in the first half to tie the score at 4.

The Wildcats scored six straight goals to end the half including Hardy's three straight to take a 10-4 halftime lead.

Freshman Samantha Djaha (East Islip, N.Y.) had the Seawolves first two goals of the second half but four goals over seven minutes for New Hampshire gave the Wildcats a 17-6 lead. Djaha, junior Jenna Celano (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and senior Diana Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y.) totaled the final four goals for the Seawolves.

Along with Djaha's four goals, Celano and Leggio each had two. Leggio also had a game-high 10 ground balls and 11 draw controls.

Stony Brook is back in action on Wednesday, April 9 when the Seawolves travel to Boston to take on #11 Boston University at 4pm.
