Stony Brook, N.Y. -
For the second time this season redshirt freshman Wesley Skiffington (Brandon, Fla.) has earned recognition for his efforts on the football field for Stony Brook. The Seawolves' placekicker, he was named one of the College Sporting News' National All-Stars this week by the publication as well as being named the co-Special Teams Player of the Week by the Big South Conference. It is the second time this season he has been recognized by the conference for his play.
In Stony Brook's 52-14 win over Presbyterian on Saturday, Skiffington established a pair of school records. He connected on all four of his field goal attempts and finished the game with 16 points kicking to establish the new school marks. Both of those marks tied Big South Conference records as well. Skiffington hit his field goals from distances of 22, 22, 37 and 38 yards, and at one point scored nine-straight points that stretched SBU's lead from six to 15 points. So far this season he has hit on all eight of his field goal attempts and is the only player in the nation at the FCS level who has that many attempts without a miss.
