Redshirt freshman receiver Jordan Gush (Richardson, Texas) of the Stony Brook University football team has been named the SimplexGrinell Stony Brook Athlete of the Week after his play in the Seawolves' thrilling, 36-33, win over Liberty on Saturday. He scored the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds of the victory that clinched the Seawolves a share of their first Big South title.
Before his game-winning catch, Gush set up the play with a 64-yard reception from sophomore quarterback Michael Coulter (Yorba Linda, Calif.) in the final minute of game that came on the second SBU play after a Liberty touchdown had given the Flames the lead with 55 seconds left. After the 64-yard catch, Gush and Coulter hooked up again, this time from 10-yards away for the game-winning score with 30 seconds left. For the game Gush caught three passes for 88 yards and returned three punts for 18 yards. The 64-yard play was the longest completion of the season for Stony Brook.
