Cross Country Places Six On America East All-Conference Team

Nov. 4, 2009

Cambridge, Mass. - Juniors Holly Van Dalen and Lucy van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) and Lisa Voltaire (Stockholm, Sweden) and senior Laura Huet (Carrickmines, Ireland) each earned all-conference honors from the America East after posting top-10 finishes at the Conference Championships in Vermont last Saturday. Fifth and sixth-place finishes from senior Alex Felce (Stroud, England) and junior Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand) earned them all-conference honors as well.

Holly and Lucy finished second and third and Huet crossed fourth to give the women's cross country team crucial points towards its third straight conference championship title. Voltaire's seventh-place finish cemented the win for Stony Brook.

The 2007 individual men's champion, Felce recorded a top-10 finish for a fourth straight season. Hodge, the defending individual champion, posted his third-straight top-10 finish.

In addition to the team honors, the Stony Brook cross country staff, led by head coach Andy Ronan and assistant Steve Walsh, were named America East women's staff of the year for the fifth straight season.

Both teams are back in action on November 14, competing at the 2009 NCAA Regional Championships at Franklin Park in Boston.
