A Look At Colgate
Colgate (0-8) enters Saturday's game off a 76-67 loss at Rutgers on Sunday. The Raiders have five starters back from last year's squad that advanced to the Patriot League semifinals. Colgate is led in scoring by Kyle Roemer, who is averaging 16.8 points per contest. Roemer was a second team All-Patriot league pick in 2007-08, but missed last season due to injury. The Raiders were picked to finish fifth in the eight-team Patriot League in the preseason coaches poll.
vs. Colgate
Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 2-0. Stony Brook won the last meeting, 65-59, at Colgate in the 2006-07 season opener. Seniors Eddie Castellanos (Jersey City, N.J.) and Andrew Goba (Durban, South Africa) both played in that game. Castellanos scored four points and grabbed three rebounds in 24 minutes while Goba had a rebound in six minutes of action. Goba started and played 15 minutes in the Seawolves 70-57 win over the Raiders at Stony Brook Arena during the 2005-06 campaign, which was head coach Steve Pikiell's first career win at SBU.
Last Time Out
Senior Muhammad El-Amin (Lansing, Mich.) scored a team-high 16 points and sophomore Dallis Joyner (Norfolk, Va.) tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds to record his first career double-double but the Fordham Rams shot 51.7 percent from the field and hit 13 three-pointers on its way to a 93-77 victory over the Seawolves on Tuesday night at Rose Hill Gymnasium.
El-Amin grabbed seven rebounds and went 6-for-6 from the line, while Joyner recorded career-highs in points and rebounds. Sophomore Bryan Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J.) added 13 points, while junior Chris Martin (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) chipped in with 11.
