Cambridge, Mass. -
Sophomore guard Bryan Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J.) of the Stony Brook University men's basketball team has been named the America East Co-Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Dougher set career-highs with 30 points and eight three-pointers in the Seawolves' 84-75 win over preseason conference favorite Boston University on Saturday.
Dougher scored 21 of his 30 points in the second half against the Terriers, helping the Seawolves to their first ever regular season win at BU. The eight made three-pointers set the school's Division I record and tied the program's all-time record.
He also scored 18 points in Stony Brook's 69-60 victory over Holy Cross on Thursday. Dougher averaged 22.0 points per game in the Seawolves three games last week and shot a combined 70.8 percent (17-for-24) from three-point range.
Dougher is only the second Stony Brook player to earn the honor since 2004 and the first since senior Muhammad El-Amin (Lansing, Mich.) won it on Jan. 5, 2009.
