Former Stony Brook football player Christopher Perri has been drafted by the United Football League's Florida Tuskers on Wednesday evening. He was drafted in the 10th round (50th overall) by the second-year franchise.
Perri had an excellent senior season, earning All-Big South second-team honors. Starting all 11 games at defensive end, Perri was third on the team in sacks (1.5) and tackles for loss (5.5). He finished 2010 with 36 tackles and had a sack and a pass break-up in the Big South Championship clinching victory over Liberty.
The Tuskers play their home games at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Jay Gruden, brother of former NFL coach Jon Gruden, is the team's head coach and general manager.
Florida opens the season at Las Vegas on Friday, September 17.
