Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Stony Brook University's head softball coach, Megan Bryant, announced today that outfielder Alyssa Hawley (Spokane, Wash.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Seawolves beginning in 2011. Hawley joins a recruiting class that already includes Jessica Combs (Hammonton, N.J.), Elise Fortier (Coventry, R.I.), Carly Wade (Placentia, Calif.), Nicole Hoyle (Warwick, Md.), Nicole Schieferstein (Seaford, N.Y.) and Lauren Maloney (Las Vegas, Nev.).
"We are excited that Alyssa has decided to join us at Stony Brook," Bryant said. "She brings speed, experience, a great work ethic and leadership qualities to our young team this fall. Alyssa will be a great fit at the top of our line-up and in the outfield.
A teammate of Maloney at North Idaho College, Hawley hit .351 with 65 runs scored in 2010. A first team all-region selection, she also stole 44 stolen bases and had a .965 fielding percentage. In 2009, she hit .362 in 48 games.
