Skiffington, Fenaroli Add Preseason Honors

Aug. 9, 2010

Fred Mitchell Award Watchlist FCS Senior Scout Bowl

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Sophomore Wesley Skiffington (Brandon, Fla.) and senior captain Paul Fenaroli (Monroe, Conn.) each added preseason honors to their credit last week. Skiffington was named to the Fred Mitchell Award watchlist, honoring the top kickers from FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA while Fenaroli was selected as an FCS Senior Scout Bowl Preseason All-American.

Skiffington, who also was named a preseason third-team all-american by Phil Steele's College Football Review, is one of five sophomores on the 40-man list. He led the Seawolves with 71 points, connecting on 15-of-17 field goals and 26-of-30 extra points in 2009. The Fred Mitchell Award is named after the long time Chicago Tribune columnist, who also is in the Wiitenberg University Hall of Fame for athletic excellence.

The anchor of the Stony Brook offensive line, Fenaroli earned preseason all-Big South honors at the conference's media day. A center who has started 27 straight games, he blocked for a rushing attack that ranked third in the conference and 30th in the nation last season.

Stony Brook, picked to finish second in the conference, begins preseason practice on Monday afternoon. The 2010 season opener is on September 4 at South Florida. It will be the first game against an FBS opponent.
