Women's Soccer Falls To No. 10 Maryland, 2-0

College Park, Md. - Freshman goalkeeper Chelsea Morales (Temecula, Calif.) made four saves and the Stony Brook University women's soccer team battled before falling to the No. 10 Maryland Terrapins, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Ludwig Field. Stony Brook falls to 0-5-0 with the loss while the Terrapins improve to 5-0-0.

The Seawolves held the Terrapins scoreless over the first 40 minutes. But Maryland broke through in the 41st minute as Olivia Wagner headed the ball into the 18-yard box to Danielle Hubka, who put into the back of the net from 10 yards out.

Stony Brook still trailed just 1-0 heading into halftime as Morales made three saves in the opening 45 minutes. Maryland tallied 13 shots in the first half.

Maryland got just two shots on net over the first 20 minutes of the second half before finally scoring in the 69th minute. Jasmyne Spencer set it up for the Terrapins, slipping a pass to Sade Ayinde inside the 18-yard box. Ayinde then put it into the lower corner of the net to put Maryland on top 2-0.

The Terrapins finished the day with 20 shots and seven corner kicks. Junior Dana Adamkiewicz (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) recorded the only shot of the day for Stony Brook, which also had one corner kick.

The Seawolves return to action on Friday, traveling to take on Sacred Heart. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
