Stony Brook head football coach Chuck Priore has announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Bryce Brantley (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Mark Matteson (Salina, Kan.), Preston Randolph (Lawrence, Kan.) and Grahm Saunders (Lawrence, Kan.) will enroll at Stony Brook in the spring semester.

Brantley, a transfer from Orange Coast College, was an All-California Region V selection after leading the Central East Conference and finishing third in the Southern California Football Association with 9.5 sacks. The Edison High School graduate was a Sunset League first-team selection and earned the Matt Hombs Award, given to the player who exemplifies the ideal Edison football player.

Priore on Brantley: "Bryce will add depth, size and athleticism at one of our defensive end positions."

One of three transfers from Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, Matteson was a second-team all-conference and second-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) selection. He was awarded the Pete Peltzer Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award. Matteson was a three-year starter at left tackle for Salina South High School, earning first-team Class 5A honors.

Priore on Matteson: "Mark is a very athletic offensive lineman who's capable of playing all three line positions."

Randolph also was a second-team all-conference and second-team All-KJCCC selection for the Red Ravens. In 10 games, he recorded 47 tackles, two pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. He was awarded the Barbara Jean Pendleton Scholarship, given to the player who has true Red Raven spirit and dedication to athletics. A two-way standout at Free State High School, Randolph earned All-Sunflower League mention at defensive back and wide receiver.

Priore on Randolph: "Preston will help us fill the gap with the graduation of Arin West."

A high school and college teammate of Randolph, Saunders was a second-team all-conference and second-team All-KJCCC selection at defensive end. He made 45 tackles, had six sacks and forced two fumbles. He was awarded the President's Trophy for the outstanding sophomore who has the best conduct on and off the field.

Priore on Saunders: "Grahm will help us at a defensive end position with his size and athleticism.

Brantley, Matteson, Randolph and Saunders join a class that already includes Joe Danaker (Germantown, Md.), Mike Lisi (Franklin Square, N.Y.), Ivan May (El Cajon, Calif.) and Steven Watts (San Clemente, Calif.).
