Men's hoops hosts seventh annual Fun Run

Oct. 12, 2011

The Stony Brook men's basketball team held its seventh annual Fun Run Wednesday afternoon on the university campus. The three-mile race is the prelude to the team opening up preseason practice, which begins Friday night.

Stony Brook University student Dalton Roe won the competition with a time of 19:30. Junior Ben Resner finished second with a time of 19:52, and assistant coach Lamar Chapman placed third with a time of 22:26. Senior Al Rapier was a second behind Chapman for a fourth-place finish.

Head coach Steve Pikiell and the Seawolves return 12 letterwinners from last season's team that advanced to the America East Championship final for the first time in program history. The Seawolves are expected to be a contender for the league crown once again and will commence the 2011-12 season Nov. 11 at Indiana. The home opener at historic Pritchard Gymnasium is two days later, Nov. 13, against Mount Ida. Season and individual game tickets are now on sale through the Stony Brook Athletics Ticket office online at GoSeawolves.org/tickets and by phone at (631) 632-WOLF.
