Stony Brook, N.Y. -

Kickoff
Coming off its first win of the season and a bye week, the Stony Brook football team faces Presbyterian in the Big South opener for both teams. The Seawolves beat Lafayette, 37-20, before a crowd of more than 8,000 raucous fans. Junior Miguel Maysonet rushed for a career-high 194 yards and scored four touchdowns, which tied a school, LaValle Stadium and Big South record. Junior Wesley Skiffington also was outstanding, kicking three field goals, including a career-long from 46 yards, and four extra points. His second field goal gave him 157 points for his career, breaking the Stony Brook all-time mark for kickers, set by Mike Soto (156) in 2003. Junior Dan Mulrooney led the defense with eight tackles, a fumble recovery, a forced fumble and an interception. Maysonet, Skiffington and Mulrooney earned Big South Offensive, Special Teams and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

The Opponent
Presbyterian also comes into today's game with a 1-3 record, having lost to Furman, 62-21, in its last outing. The Blue Hose, who beat North Greenville, 38-21, also suffered defeats against Wofford, 35-28, and California, 63-12. Four different rushers have scored touchdowns for Presbyterian, led by Demarcus Rouse's three scores. Ryan Singer has passed for 417 yards and a touchdown. Cornerback Justin Bethel also has scored three touchdowns (two punt returns and an interception). He is the Big South's all-time leader in blocked kicks with eight.

The Series
Stony Brook has won each of the two meetings by at least 30 points (52-14 and 37-7). The Seawolves have rushed for more than 265 yards in both games and are 9 of 9 in red-zone chances. Stony Brook also has dominated time of possession, keeping the ball for 35:22 in both games. In 2009, Skiffington totaled a school-record 16 points on four field goals and four extra points.

Lafayette Post-Game Notes
Since junior Kyle Essington's 18-yard run in the second quarter against Brown, either Maysonet or Skiffington have accounted for the last nine scoring plays. Maysonet's two touchdowns in the fourth quarter were Stony Brook's first this season. Lafayette had seven red-zone chances, scoring on only three of them. As a result, the Seawolves lead FCS in red zone efficiency - defense (7 TDs in 13 chances).
