The Stony Brook football team is aiming for an unprecedented six-game winning streak when the Seawolves travel to face Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Mike Solano and Curt Hylton will broadcast all the action on WUSB 90.1 FM and GoSeawolves.org.
Last Time Out
Senior Brock Jackolski (Shirley, N.Y.) and junior Miguel Maysonet (Riverhead, N.Y.) combined for 384 yards and four touchdowns in the Seawolves' 42-0 win over Coastal Carolina. Jackolski rushed for a career-high 193 yards and a touchdown. Maysonet, who ran for 193 yards and three touchdowns last season at Coastal Carolina, totaled 191 yards and three touchdowns. He became just the 10th player in Big South history with more than 2,000 yards on the ground and moved into third place all-time in Stony Brook history with 21 rushing touchdowns.
Opponent
Charleston Southern (0-8, 0-3) is coming off a 14-7 loss to Gardner-Webb. Junior Mike Davis caught a touchdown pass from redshirt junior Richard Mounce as the Buccaneers led for the first time this season. Mounce has thrown for 382 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Malcolm Dixon, who leads Charleston Southern in rushing with 296 yards, is 68 of 152 for 768 and three touchdowns, but has thrown six INTs. Chris Kuzdale leads the team with 71 tackles.
Series
Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 2-1. The Seawolves lost to the Buccaneers, 30-27, in overtime in the last meeting in Charleston. SBU overcame a 10-point deficit, but John Paglia kicked a game-winning, 43-yard field goal. The ground game rushed for 340 yards in the loss. The combined margin of victory was four in the first two games before the Seawolves' 41-21 win last season in Stony Brook.
