Junior quarterback Kyle Essington (Chino Hills, Calif.) has been named Big South Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Essington passed for 250 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-31, title-clinching win over Liberty.
Essington, who threw three touchdown passes for the third time this season, connected with three different receivers on scores of 26, 49 and 14 yards.
Since taking over the starting job on October 8 against Presbyterian, Essington is 84 of 127 (66.1) for 1,371 yards and 15 touchdowns against just one interception. He's also rushed for three scores.
The Seawolves take on Albany Saturday, November 26 at 2 p.m. in a Division I Football Championship first-round game.
