LIVE STATS: Game One | Game Two

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook softball team will wrap up a 14-game homestand on Thursday with a doubleheader against Manhattan at 3:00 p.m. The Seawolves (9-16) will be looking to put a halt to their four-game slide before returning the conference action this weekend.

Junior Bernadette Tenuto leads the team with a .299 batting average and also boasts a team-best nine RBI. Tenuto, freshman Jess Combs (Hammonton, N.J.) and freshman Elise Fortier (Coventry, R.I.) have all smacked two home runs so far this season. In the circle, senior Colleen Matthes (Severn, Md.) leads all America East hurlers in innings pitched (108.1), strikeouts (87) and games started (17). Matthes has accounted for six of the team’s nine wins and has posted a 3.55 ERA in 21 appearances.

Manhattan
The Jaspers enter today’s doubleheader with a 10-14 record in 2011. Manhattan has posted a 2-0 record against America East opposition with a pair of wins over Hartford to open its season. The Jaspers’ offense has scored at least nine runs in three of its last six games and features two players who bat above .320 in Kate Bowen (.328) and Jocelin Whitmore (.364). Melissa Donnelly leads the team with three HR and 14 RBI, while Ashley Rampino owns a team-best 27 strikeouts in the circle to go along with a 3.17 ERA.

Series History
The Seawolves hold an 8-6-1 all-time advantage against Manhattan dating back to the year 2000. Last year, Stony Brook defeated Manhattan, 5-3, in extra innings and tied the Jaspers, 1-1, in a game that was halted after five innings due to darkness.

Last Time Out
The Seawolves were dealt three losses last weekend by conference rival UMBC, falling by scores of 9-5, 6-5 and 6-1. In the first game, sophomore Shannon O’Shea (Lake Worth, Fla.) and junior Suzie Karath (Fishkill, N.Y.) combined to go 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs. In the second game, five different players pounded out hits, including a pair by sophomore Gina Bianculli (Oakdale, N.Y.). Stony Brook managed five hits in game three as junior Alyssa Hawley (Spokane, Wash.) led the way with a single and two stolen bases.
