Stony Brook, N.Y. -

Kickoff
The Stony Brook football team hosts Brown in its 2011 home opener.  Today's game is the first of four straight home games, a first since the Seawolves joined Division I in 1999.  Stony Brook is coming off a 35-7 loss at Buffalo.  Junior Jordan Gush caught a 16-yard pass from junior Kyle Essington for a touchdown.  The drive took up 92 yards, the Seawolves' longest since a 95-yard drive against Presbyterian in 2009.  Senior D.J. Porter picked off his third pass of the season and his second deep in Stony Brook territory.  Junior Miguel Maysonet (92) and senior Brock Jackolski (75) paced a rushing attack that gained 184 yards.  Today's game is Sunrise Fund Night, Welcome Back Student Tailgate and Band Day.

Opponent
For a fourth straight season, Brown opens its season against Stony Brook.  The Bears, who were picked fourth in the Ivy League preseason poll, return 10 all-conference players from a year ago.  Senior quarterback Kyle Newhall-Caballero missed most of last year, including the Stony Brook game, but is one of the Ivy League's top players.  The first player in 120 years to serve as team captain for two years, Newhall-Caballero will be throwing to Alexander Tounkara-Tone and Jimmy Saros, both seniors who earned all-Ivy League last year.  The defense is led by seniors Stephen Payton and Clayton McGrath and junior AJ Cruz.

Series
Brown leads the season series, 2-1, with each team winning its home game(s). In last year's game in Providence, Jackolski ran for two touchdowns, and senior Matt Brevi scored on the Seawolves' first play from scrimmage, going 67 yards up the right side. After a 36-yard field goal from junior Wesley Skiffington in the second overtime, Zachary Tronti won the game for the Bears with a one-yard score.
