Stony Brook's men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2011 season with wins over Quinnipiac and C.W. Post on Saturday.
Senior Hayley Green (Wellington, New Zealand) took first for the Seawolves, finishing in 13:53. Sophomore Olivia Burne (Palmerston North, New Zealand) placed second with a time of 13:54.
Contributing performances came from senior Patricia Barry (Tipperary, Ireland), who took fourth in 14:22 and junior Annie Keown (Auckland, New Zealand) - 14:23.
On the men's side, sophomore Daniel Denis (Bayport, N.Y.), senior Gerard Harley (Setauket, N.Y.) and sophomore Carlos Roa (Jamaica, N.Y.) tied for first in 19:19. Freshman Derek Rammelkamp took fifth in 19:49.
Both squads return to action on September 24 at the Ted Owen Invitational at Central Connecticut.
