Junior Tommy Brenton (Columbia, Md.) of the Stony Brook men's basketball team has been named America East Co-Player of the Week after averaging a double-double in a pair of Seawolves victories, the league office announced Monday.
Brenton averaged 11.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals while making eight of nine shots from the field in wins over New Hampshire and Maine. Against the Wildcats, he was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field on his way to a 13-point night. He also had seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Brenton followed that performance by grabbing a season-high 15 rebounds to go with nine points, four assists and four steals at Maine. It was the fourth time this season Brenton had at least nine points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a game.
Brenton is leading the Seawolves in rebounding (8.3 RPG), assists (65) and steals (29). He is 69th in the nation in rebounding and 93rd in assist/turnover ratio (1.97).
Brenton and the Seawolves are 11-7 this season and are in first place in America East with a 6-1 record. The team hosts Hartford Wednesday night at Pritchard Gymnasium, where the Seawolves have won nine consecutive games.
