Despite double-doubles from junior Rayshaun McGrew (Chicago, Ill.) and Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.), the Stony Brook men's basketball team fell to Princeton, 77-64, Saturday at Jadwin Gymnasium.
McGrew had a career-high 18 points and added 10 rebounds for the Seawolves (5-4).
Warney posted his nation-leading eighth double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Sophomore Chris Braley (Newport, Maine) scored a career-high 10 points off the bench.
Steven Cook tallied 28 points for Princeton (3-6).
Head Coach Steve Pikiell's reaction
"You just can't go on the road and turn the ball over that many times against a team like Princeton. Princeton is Princeton. When you go on the road, you've got to play great basketball and we didn't do that tonight. Credit Princeton though. They used their size to their advantage."
Turning Point
Four different players scored in a 12-0 run as Stony Brook turned a 44-40 deficit into an eight-point lead with 11:18 left in regulation. The Seawolves stretched the lead to nine, but Princeton went on an 11-1 spurt to take a 57-55 lead with six minutes remaining. McGrew's layup got Stony Brook within four, 63-59, with 2:58 to play. The Tigers hit threes on back-to-back possessions for a 10-point lead, 69-59, with 1:40 left.

• Stony Brook shot a season-best 63 percent in the first half.
• Braley had seven of his 10 points in the first 20 minutes. His previous high was eight in 31 career games.
• Junior Carson Puriefoy and redshirt freshman Roland Nyama had nine points apiece.
• Tonight's game was Stony Brook's first against Princeton. It owns an 11-9 record all-time against the Ivy League under Pikiell.
• The game was a homecoming for New Jersey natives, Warney and Puriefoy.
• It was Stony Brook's first game in the Garden State since the 6 a.m. ESPN game against Rider in 2012.
• Princeton's 12 three-pointers were the most allowed by Stony Brook this season.
• The Seawolves got back in the game in the second half by holding the Tigers without a field goal from 17:53 to 11:00.
