Boston - Stony Brook cross country junior Christina Melian (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named America East Performer of the Week for the third time this fall, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Melian competed at the Pre-National Invitational Friday in Louisville, Kentucky, finishing 10^th overall. The Seawolf junior completed the 6K in 20:13.6 against a stacked field of competitors preparing at the site of the 2015 NCAA Championships.

It is the third America East honor of the 2015 cross country season for Melian, who also took home the award Sept. 9 and Sept. 29. Melian was also named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week and ECAC Athlete of the Week for her Sept. 25 performance, in which she won the Battle in Beantown against a field that included four nationally ranked teams.

The Seawolves return to action Friday at the Central Connecticut Mini-Meet in New Britain, Connecticut.
