RB Donald Liotine’s 204 yards and two touchdowns paired with 12 sacks by the Stony Brook defense led the Seawolves to a 14-9 victory over visiting Howard on Saturday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium that snap a five-game losing streak. Liotine carried the ball a career-high 38 times and gained a career-best 204 yards to go with rushing touchdowns of 14 yards and five yards. The Stony Brook defense registered 12 sacks, the most by a NCAA Division I team this season. DE Victor Ochi and DL Ousmane Camara each collected three of those sacks. Ochi’s three tied him for the Stony Brook career record with a total of 29.0.
Opponent
Rhode Island (1-8, 1-5 CAA Football) has dropped three straight since a 20-0 victory at home over Delaware. The Rams will be celebrating Senior Day on Saturday and will honor 23 seniors prior to the game. URI is led by RB Harold Cooper’s 642 yards and three touchdowns and LB Adam Parker’s 76 total tackles, including 8.5 tackles for a loss.
The Series
This will be the third meeting between the two CAA Football members. Stony Brook has enjoyed a pair of victories in the previous match ups, including a 24-0 win at Rhode Island on Sept. 7, 2013 in the Seawolves first CAA game. SBU claimed a 35-14 win last November at Stony Brook.
