Three members of the Stony Brook cross country program were named to the America East All-Academic Team for the 2015 season, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Senior Joseph Clark (Worcester, Mass.) earned a spot on the men’s team. The double major in Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences/Applied Math & Statistics holds a 3.73 cumulative GPA. Clark finished 15th at the America East Championships Oct. 31.
Junior Megan Cooney (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was named to the women’s team. Cooney is majoring in Health Science and holds a 4.00 cumulative GPA. Cooney finished 43rd at the America East Championships.
Junior Christina Melian (Staten Island, N.Y.) also earned a place on the women’s all-academic team. Melian, who won the women’s race at the America East Championships Oct. 31 and finished third at the NCAA Northeast Regional Nov. 13, is a Biology/Health Science double major with a 3.90 GPA.
To be nominated for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher in athletic standing with a minimum 3.30 GPA and finish in the top 45 at the America East Championships.
