STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Stony Brook head football coach Chuck Priore has announced the addition of running back Jordan Gowins to the roster for the 2016 season as a transfer.
Gowins spent the 2015 season as a freshman at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, where he played in three games and recorded 15 carries for 43 yards for the Eagles.
"We are very excited to have Jordan join our program," Priore said. "He was a great player in high school and we are glad he decided to come home."
A native of Bellport, N.Y., Gowins played his high school football at St. Anthony's and earned first-team all-state honors, Daily News' CHSFL/Private League Player of the Year and the Hansen Award for the top player in Suffolk County in 2013. He rushed for over 2,000 yards as a junior, adding 117 receiving yards and scored 24 touchdowns. As a senior Gowins rushing for 896 yards and 11 touchdowns on 101 carries and added 126 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions in six games.
Gowins will join the Seawolves in January and be able to participate in the spring practices.
