Stony Brook hosts Long Island rival Hofstra Sunday

Tip-Off: The Stony Brook men's basketball team will play at home for the first time in more than two weeks when it hosts Long Island rival Hofstra Sunday at 2 p.m.  Josh Caray and Curt Hylton will broadcast the action on WHLI 1100 AM.

Opponent: Hofstra enters Sunday's game off an 11-day layoff, most recently falling at Siena, 81-68. Ameen Tanksley had 22 points and Denton Koon and Juan'ya Green added 12 points apiece against the Saints, which shot 30 of 57 (.526) compared to the Pride's 22 of 66 (.333).  Green leads the team in scoring with 17.6 points per game.  Tanksley is averaging 16.7 and Koon 11.6.  Brian Bernardi is the fourth Hofstra player averaging double figures (14.8).  The Pride have used the same starting lineup in all nine games.

Series: Hofstra leads the all-time series, 19-4, including an 8-3 mark when both schools have been at the Division I level.  Jameel Warney had 26 points and 14 rebounds in last year's game, but Dion Nesmith made a jumper with 1.6 seconds left as the Pride won 66-65.  The Seawolves's last win in the series was in 2007, holding off Hofstra, 77-74.

Last Time Out: Jameel Warney led four Stony Brook players in double figures with 22 points as the Seawolves topped American, 86-68, Thursday at Bender Arena.

Warney shot 10-for-12 from the field and made two free throws, registering his second straight 20-point game.

Carson Puriefoy and Ahmad Walker had 18 points and six assists apiece.

Bryan Sekunda added 10 points.

Puriefoy, Sekunda and Roland Nyama each made two three pointers for Stony Brook (5-4).
