Puriefoy, Warney help Stony Brook rally past Lehigh, 75-62

Bethlehem, Pa. - Senior Carson Puriefoy (Wenonah, N.J.) scored a season-high 25 points and senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) totaled 22 for the third straight game as the Stony Brook men's basketball team rallied past Lehigh, 75-62, Tuesday night at Stabler Arena.

Warney (16) and Puriefoy combined for 31 of Stony Brook's 46-point second half.

Warney, who added 10 rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks, registered his eighth double-double of the season for Stony Brook (7-4), which has won three straight games.

Junior Ahmad Walker (Port Washington, N.Y.) also finished with a double-double, totaling 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.

Kyle Leufroy led Lehigh (2-9) with 13 points.

I knew this would be a tough game. Despite its record, Lehigh was picked to win the Patriot League and they have real good players. Obviously, I loved our effort in the second half. We came out focused, played hard and got a hard-earned road victory.

Turning Point
Stony Brook trailed by as many as nine late in the first half, cutting it to six at halftime. The Seawolves got within one twice in the second half, taking its first lead, 46-45, since 7-6 on a reverse layup from Warney.

After Austin Price's two free throws with 7:01 left made it 57-55, Stony Brook ended the game on an 18-7 spurt in which Puriefoy made three threes.
