Warney garners NABC All-District honors

March 27, 2015

Kansas City, Mo. - Junior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) of the Stony Brook men's basketball team was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Team Friday.

Warney, an All-District 1 selection, joins Iona's David Laury and A.J. English, Manhattan's Emmy Andujar and Quinnipiac's Zaid Hearst on the first team.

Warney finished 2014-15 as one of only 17 players in Division I to average a double-double, totaling 16.4 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. He tallied 24 double-doubles and grabbed 409 rebounds, both of which led Division I.

The two-time America East Player of the Year and Lou Henson Award finalist tied former Drexel standout Malik Rose for the most rebounds (409) in a season in America East history.

Warney, who ranks first in school history with 172 blocks, has 1,477 career points and will go into next season needing only 223 to break Bryan Dougher's Division I program record of 1,609. Emeka Smith owns Stony Brook's all-time record with 1,978 points.

Warney is 198 rebounds shy of breaking Tommy Brenton's school record (1,115).
