Seawolves defeated by Oakland, Central Arkansas

Final Stats

Los Angeles - The Stony Brook volleyball team fell to Oakland and Central Arkansas in a pair of matches hosted by Loyola Marymount as part of the LBSU/LMU Mizuno Invitational at Gersten Pavilion. The Seawolves fell in five sets to Oakland (17-25, 26-24, 25-23, 16-25, 16-18) and in four to Central Arkansas (19-25, 23-25, 26-24, 23-25). With the losses, the Seawolves fall to 2-8.


Highlights
- Sophomore Melann Amory (Center Valley, Pa.) led the Seawolves with 13 kills against Central Arkansas on a .303 hitting percentage.
- Freshman McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) had nine kills on a .467 hitting percentage against Central Arkansas.
- Stony Brook trailed by as many as six points in the third set against Central Arkansas before taking the set 26-24.
- Freshman Taylor Wilson (Corydon, Ind.) and senior Kathy Fletcher (West Chicago, Ill.) each had 13 kills against Oakland in the first match of the day.
- Freshman Morgan Kath (Muskego, Wis.) tallied 42 assists against the Grizzlies and 33 in the matchup with the Sugar Bears.
- The Seawolves erased a 23-18 deficit in the second set against Oakland to take the frame 26-24 and tie the match 1-1. McFadden had three aces and a kill during the 8-1 run.
- Senior Nicole Vogel (Costa Mesa, Calif.) notched 21 digs in the match against Central Arkansas.

Notes
- Three of the nine sets on the day went beyond the prescribed point total. Stony Brook won the second set against Oakland and the third vs. Central Arkansas by 26-24 margins, while the Seawolves fell to the Grizzlies 18-16 in the fifth.

Up Next
The Seawolves will play two matches Saturday in Southern California. Stony Brook faces Long Beach State at 2 p.m. EDT before a 10 p.m. EDT match at Loyola Marymount. Both the 49ers and Lions are receiving votes in this week’s AVCA poll.
