Seawolves take part in Wolfie Invitational

Sept. 13, 2015

Men's Results Women's Results

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday in the Wolfie Invitational on the Stony Brook campus, as the Seawolves hosted conference foes Binghamton, UMBC and New Hampshire in an early preparation for the America East Championships at Stony Brook in October. The Seawolves finished second out of four teams in the men's 8K and third out of four in the women's 5K.

Coach Ronan's Take
"The men competed well today as a group. They put themselves in the race from the start and handled themselves well against two of the top teams in the conference in Binghamton and UMBC.

"The women struggled a bit today with the warm conditions, but I was very pleased with the way that Elizabeth Caldwell and Olivia Rtichie competed."

Highlights
- A pair of Seawolves juniors placed third and fourth in the women's race, as Elizabeth Caldwell (Glen Head, N.Y.) finished in 19:15.28, edging Olivia Ritchie (Chartwell, New Zealand), who crossed the line in 19:16.78.
- Senior Mitchell Kun (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the top Seawolf on the men's side, placing fourth in 26:20.82.
- Sophomore Daniel Connelly (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) finished seventh in 26:43.00, while sophomore Michael Watts (Islip, N.Y.) was ninth in 26:48.22.

Notes
- Just seven Seawolves ran in both the men's and women's races on what was the second consecutive weekend with a home meet for Stony Brook.

Up Next
The Seawolves will be off from competition next weekend before taking part in the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown Friday, Sept. 25 in Boston.
