STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Victor Ochi, a senior defensive lineman for Stony Brook, was named the CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Ochi, a Valley Stream, N.Y., native, anchored the Seawolves' defense in the historic win over 13th-ranked New Hampshire on Saturday night. He recorded a career-high 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, and collected 3.5 sacks.
Stony Brook's defense, behind Ochi, allowed just six points and 253 total yards of offense against UNH. After two games the Seawolves' defense ranks first in the nation in total defense, having allowed just 186.5 yards per game. SBU is also second in country with a 7.5 points against average.
Ochi and Stony Brook hit the road for the next two games, visiting William & Mary this Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff in Williamsburg, Va., before returning to the Commonwealth the following week to battle James Madison at Noon. The Seawolves return home on Oct. 17 to host Towson for Homecoming. For ticket information or to reserve your spot in Seawolves Town, call 631-632-WOLF.
