Badoche, Tsvetkov, Nikolaeva win singles flights at Brown Invitational

Providence, R.I. - Sophomores Elizabeth Tsvetkov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Yana Nikolaeva (Thornhill, Ontario) and senior Louise Badoche (Paris, France) won their singles flights at Brown Invitational.

Tsvetkov dropped only one set before capturing a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Boston University's Lauren Davis. She beat Alyza Benotto, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in her first round match.

Nikolaeva rallied in her first match against Brittany Collens of UMass, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.  She won in three sets in the semifinals before topping Stephanie Elgegren, 6-2, 6-4, in the finals.

Badoche also won her first two matches in three sets apiece before ousting Ammu Mandalap, 7-5, 6-2 in the finals.

Freshman Ester Chikvashvili (Melville, N.Y.) won her quarterfinal match and took the first set against Jaide Collins of St. John's in the semifinals.

Three of Stony Brook's four doubles teams won their Round of 16 matches.

The Seawolves are back in action in two weeks at the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational.
