Stony Brook opens conference play at Binghamton Wednesday

Tip-Off: The Stony Brook men's basketball team opens America East Conference play Wednesday night at Binghamton.  Ed Cohen and Frank Sullivan will have the call on ESPN3.  Josh Caray will broadcast the action on WHLI 1370 AM.

Opponent: Binghamton enters conference play with a 3-10 record, falling to Penn, 80-45, in its last game.  Willie Rodriguez leads the Bearcats with 14.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.  Everson Davis is second with 11.1 points per game.  Marlon Beck II, who's averaging 9.5 points, has made nearly 40 percent of Binghamton's three-point field goals.

Series: As a Division I program, Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 17-15.  The Seawolves joined Division I prior to the 1999-2000 season and Binghamton made the jump before the 2001-02 season. The series dates back to 1963 as Stony Brook holds a 37-25 advantage.  The Seawolves are in the midst of a 12-game winning streak.

Last Time Out: Senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) and senior Carson Puriefoy (Wenonah, N.J.) had seven points apiece in a game-changing 26-3 run as the Stony Brook men's basketball team rallied from a 16-point deficit to beat Columbia, 69-60, Saturday night at Island Federal Credit Union Arena.

Warney scored a game-high 20 points on 7 of 11 shooting and 6 of 9 from the line.

Puriefoy added 18 points and junior Ahmad Walker (Port Washington, N.Y.) finished with 11.

Stony Brook (9-4) outscored Columbia (9-6), 44-24, in the second half after trailing by 11 at halftime.

Grant Mullins had 14 points for the Lions.
