Information about the NCAA Northeast Regional
 
Bronx, N.Y. – The Stony Brook men's and women's cross country teams travel to Van Cortlandt Park for the NCAA Northeast Regional on Friday morning.  The women's 6K race will start at 11:00 a.m. with the men's 10K to follow. 
 
The Northeast Regional is made up of all Division 1 teams in the New England and New York area. Each race will consist of 40 teams with seven athletes on each team. Two teams will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships along with 13 at large bids. The top four individuals from each regional not on qualifying teams with also advance.
 
The Seawolves women's team will consist of: Elizabeth Caldwell, Megan Cooney, Christine Eisenberg, Christina Melian, Clodagh O'Reilly, Alexandria Ortega, and Annika Sisson.   
 
Cameron Avery, Chris Biondi, Danny Connelly, Nick Cruz, Kyle Kelly, Vann Moffett, and Kevin Vinolas will compete on the men's side.
 
"Both squads are excited and looking forward to the regional meet tomorrow. We want to build on our conference performance and establish ourselves as one of the top 10 teams in the Northeast Region. I feel if we can keep our focus and compete to our fitness level, then we have a great opportunity to reach the goal we set at the start of the season, a top 10 finish for both teams," said head coach Andy Ronan.
 
"On the individual front, I feel that Christina, Christine, and Annika have a shot of making the All Region Team. To do this they will have to finish in the top 25. Christina has made good progress fitness wise over the last two weeks to now be in the conversation for one of the individual spots at the NCAA Championships. Eisenberg cannot be ruled out either, she has been having her best season to date and has the ability to make it," continued Ronan. 
 
"We are looking for our top three guys: Cameron, Danny and Nick to finish in the top 50, but I feel one or two of them have the ability to finish in the top 25 and make the All Region Team," said coach Ronan.
