Scouting Manhattan
The Jaspers have pulled out close wins in three of its four contests, the only loss a 34 point defeat at Buffalo. Similar to Stony Brook's victory on Tuesday night, the Jaspers squeaked out a win with late free throws. Trailing by one, Nyasha Irizarry hit two free throws with 0.1 seconds for a 58-57 win at Brown. Manhattan has been successful thus far by sharing the scoring. Not a single player averages in double figures, but four average at least 8.8 points per game. Maeve Parahus leads the team in scoring at 9.3 points per game, while Kayla Grimme is averaging 9.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg.

Balanced Scoring
Stony Brook is one of three teams in the America East to have three players averaging double figures in scoring along with Hartford and UMBC. Senior Kori Bayne-Walker leads the team at 14.3 ppg, followed by senior Elizabeth Manner (Vienna, Va.) 10.3 ppg and Lauren Williams (North Babylon, N.Y.) 10.0 ppg. Stony Brook's scorers have done so in an efficient manner as the shots have been spread around. Bayne-Walker leads the conference in three-point field goal percentage at 54.5%, while Manner is second in field goal percentage at 62.1%.
Taking Care of the Basketball
Stony Brook had troubles dealing with Syracuse's full court pressure on Friday, committing a season-high 34 turnovers. Against the Lions, the Seawolves handled every defensive look that was thrown their way, turning the ball over a season-low 11 times. Bayne-Walker played a big role in the team's success with five assists and just one turnover. Her 1.1 assist/turnover ratio for the season ranks third in the America East.
